Darrel Philip Mentch, 35, died Thursday, July
21 at Denver Presbyterian Hospital following a long illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Mentch were held
Tuesday, July 26 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Harley Pulis
officiating. Burial was in Monument Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Mentch was born Feb. 28, 1948 in
Thermopolis to Delmer and Beverly (Buckle) Mentch. He worked as a fiscal
control officer for Hot Springs State Park and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He had been confined to a wheelchair since 1968 after an automobile accident.
On Nov. 13, 1980 he received an award from Gov. Ed Herschler naming him the
Wyoming male handicapped person of the year.

He was also a member of the Wyoming National
Guard, Eagles and Elks Lodges, was past treasurer of the Disabled American
Veterans and treasurer of Smoking Waters Mountain Men, and a member of the
Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.
Mr. Mentch is survived by his parents of
Thermopolis; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Buckle of Thermopolis,
his paternal grandmother, Myrtle Mentch of Thermopolis; his twin sister, Sheryl
English, and two other sisters, Amy Jo Mentch and Carol Mills, all of
Thermopolis; three nieces and one nephew.
Mortimore Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
