BARTON SMITH

BARTON SMITH RITES HELD
    Funeral services were held for Barton J. Smith, third victim of a tragic one-car accident early last week, on Saturday, March 5 at the Community Church.  Rev. W.B. Corlett officiated at the rites.
    Barton was born Jan. 20, 1948 in Oakland, Calif. and moved to Thermopolis 12 years ago with his family.  He was a senior at Hot Springs County high school and was very active in various activities there.
    He was a member of the "T" Club, wrestling team, choir, Future Farmers of America chapter and was active in school dramatics projects.  He was also active in church activities in the Community Church of which he was a member.
 
 
    Barton is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Smith of Thermopolis; a sister, Monta Jean; two brothers, Frank and Sherman; two grandmothers, Mrs. Lela Smith and Mrs. Julia Holdrege, both of Thermopolis; and a grandfather, Harry Holdrege of Caldwell, Ida.
    Interment was in Monument Hill Cemetery.
    Pallbearers included Clem John, Jay Roberts, Wedg Taylor, Frank Phelp, Wayne Simpson, Gary Bjorklund, and Mark Gebhart.
    Music for the service was provided by the high school choir.
